February 17th 2010 - Windsor CT - Windsor's Robotics Team, Paragon 571, is working overtime to deliver robots and a website for this week's deadlines.
They'll compete in a futuristic basketball/soccer game with obstacles and other teammates. Just understanding the game is a challenge. Building a robot for the competition requires a big team and a full sized shop. "I would have loved to be a part of this organization as a kid. There are subgroups for mechanical, electrical, software, graphics, pit design, not to mention food, spirit, marketing, and administration. Everyone has a place so it appeals to a wide range of students with opportunities that are rare in a traditional classroom. "I got to be a mentor in the website group. And it's not just about building robots; this is run like a business. It can be expensive to run a full sized shop and to take trips to regional competitions.
