Math 421 History of Mathematics

Obviously Euclid was not the first mathematician. There have been many regarded as greater. His Elements, however, has to be regarded as one of the most significant works (of any field, art or science) ever created by mankind. No book, other than the bible, has been published more times. For over 2000 years the Elements was a textbook used by all math students.
