Welcome to the class page for M 152 Calculus I. Isaac Newton is given credit for being the first person to create calculus. Gottfried Leibniz also created calculus about 12 years after Newton. Because Newton was reluctant to publish many of his results a controvery arose as to which man should be given credit for the creation of calculus.
