Math 119 Precalculus with Trigonometry

Rene Descartes was one of the dominant thinkers of the 1600s. His contribution to mathematics lies mainly in an appendix (la geometrie) to Principia Mathematica and reads much like a modern day algebra book. It contains the first use of a coordinate system and analytic geometry and lead to the creation of calculus within a generation.
