| | | Check out the animated IFS images that I posted. They are the first and last images in my gallery. I used a program called the gif construction kit from Alchemy Mindworks. I couldn't find a free shareware program for the animations but at $24.99 (Canadian dollars) it was not a bad price.
The winners for the 2006 Spring IFS Competition are
First Place--Enter the Emerald City by Erikl
Second Place--Wavey by Clint
Third Place--Dandelion in the Wind by Chrisalbert
I put the three winners in joefoot's gallery. (The third one down). As a result joefoot gets the credit for the image when it is enlarged from this gallery. But joefoot is fictitious and all due credit has already been given to the winners--erikl, clint and chrisalbert. So hopefully there will be no confusion.
There were too many honorable mentions to mention, But that is a testimony to the large body of good work in the galleries. It is also a testimony to these three winners that were highly ranked in all three tiers of the judging process. The distinguished panel of 10 contains several professional artists and gallery owners. Special thanks to all of them. It's great to have such a distinguished jury.
If you would like to get in on the fun and make some IFS images of your own then download a copy of IFS 2.0 from the downloads page. It contains a collection of 10 sample images with transformations to help you get started. There is a collection of 50 sample IFS images with transformations on the welcome page that you can use.
There is also a tutorial in pdf format that you can get to from the welcome page. It was written for an earlier version of the IFS program but still gives you a pretty good idea of how IFS works.
Work on your favorites for posting. You could be one of the next winners of a one of a kind IFS competition winning Tshirt prize.
